Order of Christian Initiation of Adults

God wishes man to seek Him, to know Him and to love Him. In ancient times, God inspired prophets to teach, lead and prepare Israel. God then came to the world directly in the person of Jesus Christ. Christ prepared the apostles to spread his teachings throughout the world. The teachings of Christ became both the traditions of the Church and Holy Scripture. These teaching continue to be passed on and spread by Holy Spirit in the Church. The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) prepares those seeking to know God through the sacraments of Baptism, Confession, 1 st Communion, and Confirmation. This is done through various rites during Sunday mass and sessions where Catholic doctrine and morality are taught and discussed. The OCIA process relies on both the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Holy Scripture to teach the faith and prepare candidates and catechumens for reception of sacraments. The Catechism explains the profession of faith, the sacraments, how to live a life of faith, and prayer. The process culminates with the reception of the sacraments during the Easter season.
